Title after passing this test: Feline Good Citizen Test (FGCT)
Guidelines:
Required Tasks:
or
Accept Handling Cats should be willing to be handled and held. Right click to pick up your pet and take a picture with it's face showing either facing or sideways on the camera. The cat should have a calm or slightly sleepy expression but the eyes should be open.
Politely accept petting After asking for permission, your friend might like to pet your car. During the petting he must remain calm and not become overly excited. He must also remember his manners. The cat should appear to be thoroughly enjoying being petted.
or
Grooming and condition The cat should calmly accept a brush or comb (any toy hexed from the two original brushes are allowed).
Walking Politely The cat should walk or trot calmly on a leash. Though most cats in real life do not walk well on a leash, this is easy to do in petz. The cat should be calm and look at the camera (handler) or in the direction of travel. It should be moving along at a good pace, but not be rushing.
Walking through Distractions Again, not necessarily something you might do in real life with a cat, but a cat can ignore basic distractions. The toy must be something that the cat likes to play with, such as one of the balls, chew toy, or stuffed animal. The cat should be walking calmly among a minimum of three toys. The cat's attention should be on the camera or in the direction of travel, but should not be on any toy.
or
Stay The cat hsould sit calmly either looking at the camera or with it's eyes closed. It may face toward the camera or to one side, but the face should be visible. The cat should not appear to be trying to get up.
or or
Come to Handler A cat who comes when called is crucial to it's safety should it slip out. The cat should be eagerly and happily running towards either the right or left side of the screen. The head can be facing the direction of travel or the camera and he eyes should be focused on the direction of travel or on the camera. The cat should be showing speed by being in either a extended or a collected run position.
Behaving around another pet It is important that your cat is able to behave calmly around another pet. The cat should be walking past another pet, with it's eyes focused on direction of travel or the camera. A cat or dog may be used, but please be sure to not use an identical pet so we can tell which is the pet being tested.
Distractions The cat should show bravery and courage among distractions. For this task, use the jack 'o lantern, the cat can be sitting, laying down, or standing next to the jack o' lantern. The cat may have a suprised or slightly fearful expression, but should no sign of running in fear and remain in place. To calm and reassure the cat, you may be petting it.
or
Peaceful Seperation There will be times the handler must leave the cat to go elsewhere. During these times, it is important that the cat be calm and not show signs of seperation anxiety. The cat should be in a lazy or sleepy down or sit, appear calm but not asleep. The cat can be laying on one of the pillows, in a basket, or in a hexed toy such as a cage. If in a basket or cage, do not use a harness/leash.
Guidelines:
- Clothes and Toys: Catz may wear a harness and/or leash but it is not required for any task.
Expressions: Expressions will vary based on breed personality. Ideally, the cat should appear to be pleased and enjoying the test and not show an aggressive, surprised, or fearful expression. This isn't possible in many breeds, but for example an angry expression in a tabby will be a failure even though it won't in a siamese. A tired expression will be faulted in all breeds, the cat shouldn't look like it is bored or half-asleep. - Editing: Editing of pictures is NOT allowed. The pictures should each be displayed individually with the title above, below, or beside each picture.
- Judging: Each task will be judged as a pass/fail. Failure of any task will result in the requirement to retake the test. All passed photos may be reused.
- How to enter: This works the same as the draft dog test, you post a thread in this board for every individual dog with the title being the dogz showname.
